Description

'The Vista Alumni Club' was officially established in 2001, but after a few staff changes, was lost in the shuffle. It is now back as a Yahoo group!

Please feel free to sign up and reunite with old friends, make new ones and share stories about the best college newspaper in the state (yes, I am editorializing).

We are always trying to locate former staff members, so please share this site with other former "Vista-ites."
Once you are signed up, please give us some info about yourself.
Please enter as much information in your profile and in your first message that you feel comfortable about leaving (at least your name).

Some suggestions: Where are you now? What are you doing? What year(s) you were on staff? What position(s) you held?

To join, you must first register with Yahoo, which is free.

The Vista was established in 1903 as the student newspaper of the University of Central Oklahoma. From that year on, UCO students have looked to The Vista for the information they want and the news they need.

Recently, The Vista won best newspaper in its division and four first-place honors, during the Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists banquet.

Newspapers are distributed free of charge on the UCO campus and at designated off-campus locations on Tuesdays and Thursdays when classes are in session with occasional breaks due to holidays. During the summer semester, The Vista is published weekly on Thursdays. The Vista is published in broadsheet format.

The Vista has a circulation of 5,000 during the fall and spring semesters and 2,500 during the summer semester.

The Vista can now be read online at www.thevistaonline.com. This online version of the newspaper allows readers to not only read the current and past issues, but also speak their minds about the content through feedback forums and e-mail.

The Vista is a member of the Oklahoma Press Association, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the Associated Collegiate Press and the AP.

Vista alumni update
Ok, I know I started this group about a year ago, and it hasn't had any activity. Life gets busy, but that is still no excuse for me not to get things rolling.
