In the very last letter received from Mahatma KH, there is a clear warning
to Annie Besant.

"MISLEADING SECRECY HAS GIVEN THE DEATH BLOW TO NUMEROUS
ORGANIZATIONS"

I have not seen much discussion on this statement. Even in 1900, obviously,
there were simple things that were being unnecessarily kept secret by the
TS, which possibly lead to much speculation and rumors which in turn was not
helping TS.

From an ordinary member's point of view, I translate it in modern vocabulary
- lack of Transparency.

For a number of decades, everyone knows while the leaders want our votes,
our monetary support, our support for their favorite projects, there is lack
of transparency up and down the administration. Probably there is an elitist
mentality that pervades, that blinds them about the need for transparency
and they do not see how transparency will actually help. One cannot simply
visualize the effect of transparency. One has to try it. If truth and
honesty are the basis of our action, then transparency cannot hurt. If
politics and trickery and cunningness are the basis for our actions, then we
need to be scared of the acts coming out and embrassing us.

I hope the misleading secrecy does not give death blow to TS as it has given
to numerous organizations.
