On
Saturday a small handful of neo-Nazis held an anti-immigration rally
down in Austin Minnesota at the Mower County Courthouse. I traveled down to
counter-picket with 3
other attorney friends.
At the height of the rally there were 11 "Nazis", which included 2
women who never said a word and looked embarrassed to be there, 2 young
boys who looked to be about 9 or 10 years old (we now know where the
next generation of bigots is coming from), and one old World War 2 vet
who fought in the Pacific, who didn't see the irony of standing with a
bunch of nazis. When I asked him how he could stand with men who wear
the uniform of those who killed his fellow soldiers, he failed to see
the irony.
Unfortunately one reporter did a lousy job and never stated that the
Nazis were outnumbered by at least 10 to 1, which the other did mention there
were over 100 people countering the Nazis. At one point I counted 115
counterprotesters compared to the 11 "Nazis".
Here are some articles of the event.
