Social pleasures is the thrust I believe. Whether smoking in groups,
or this...

Guilty of Mercury conjunct Zubenelgenubi here. That's a very
interesting observation on active contributors. But what prompted
the ancients to malign this star? It seems as though Zubeneschemali
vs Zubenelgenubi opinions have reversed on the "good/evil" scale.

The good conferred by ancients on Zubeneschemali, came from what
values?

How exactly did we go from malevolence, disease, and lying vs. honor
and distinction to sacrifice vs. mercenary?

Thank you, Mark, for forming this group! I've often thought
of forming one, but I never could give it the time it would
deserve.

Besides Vega, I get a kick out of Mars also being conjunct
Manubrium, Omicron Sagittarii, because it was a star in
China's "Determining Asterism," which "determined" (marked)
the Winter Solstice by its heliacal rising; as it was on the
Sun's path, it was also called "The Inspector of the
Ecliptic!" How's that for a suitable start to a fixed star
group?

From my Workbook (the positions are for 1980; for 2000, add
17 minutes; for 2005, add 21 minutes)

hi Martina, it's me again ... I've seen the SF5, it's the same with minor differences ..
To see the pages you go to the 'Page topic Index' .  There is an 'edit' button at the page topic, but better do not use it. Make new pages instead.  To design pages you go to the Utilities > Page designer, then insert the parts you wish, such as the 'star aspect - object' and once inserted you modify it by selecting different 'planet files', and 'aspect files'  and 'star files' (which you should have already composed).   Then save, and see by going to the 'page topic'.   You can also modify almost every line of the conditions (shown at right).

To modify the planet, aspect and star files, go to 'chart options'.  Copy the big star file
with different names, i.e. star01 star02 ... .  Keep the original unchanged.  Then modify
each part, first sort by longitude, then erase the non pertinent.  For planet and aspect
files, do not modify those existing, but create new names.

Apparently at SF5 the orbs should be smaller than for SF4, probably there are more
stars included.  So you may do a balance among :  the quantity of star 'sections', the
qty of stars in each section, the qty of enabled aspects, the reduction of orbs, and
the qty of planets in (alternative) planet files.  If you want to see all the stars, many
aspects, also planets and asteroids ... then many pages have to be designed.

As soon as I have some time will be trying to repeat at SF5 the two pages I already sent to
the list.  But very small orbs do not make sense, then the star files should be divided
into several small parts and modified as to other details ...

Now I've seen there is an automatic 'star' page at SF5 showing also Culm, Anticulm, Declin, etc., very nice.

greetings
alhena

Thanks Heather- managed to get the page, but just one big data block,...
I made a star file a while ago with a LOT of stars,.. so if its over about 60 lines,..
it runs off the page,.... hmm,.. just occurred that I could set up separate files on
the same page with aspects to Sun, Moon, Venus, then another for Mars, Jup etc,..
??? Is that what you did Alhena?? sheesh,.. its near bedtime for me,.... I'll try it tomorrow.
I did a template with asteroid files to use as a "key' for anyone I was sending the dials to
because its tons of symbols, but they allow for 2 data blocks (columns,..)
I'll putter away at it!
Thanks to you both!!

hi Martina, I'll see how it is with SF5 then ...  I dont believe they 've changed it.
You have to make new star files (by copying the given ones, and dividing into several minor files), also new aspect files, and planet files, otherwise you cannot see the writing.  Will be commenting then.

Hi Martina,

Under the page button on the right find "samples", then "sample objects", then "ancients and others"

(Sample3.pag)....thus you get a page.  This has a quite a bit on it including the aspects with Fixed Stars.

So it is a template set up on Solar Fire 5.

It is possible to create one's own page with just the aspect grids on it.

I think you have to start a total new page to do this, or so the Solar Fire guy in Melbourne told me

once when I was struggling around trying to get creative with the template.

Hope you can work this all out. I have got a Mercury Quinqunx Algol (-1*) so if you think

I am waffling on.....you are probably right :)

Hi Martina.

These lists made with Solar Fire, the 'pages' are own creation, and I may give a copy of my page files if you wish, for the group, if Mark approves.   Of course the program itself should be bought to its commercial source.  Now my pages are done for SF4, so if you use SF5 give me some time.

I have Neptune conjunct Zubenalgenubi.

I think Robson links Zubenalgenubi (Alpha Librae) to "danger of
poison." (p. 205) I smoked from my early teens up until ten years ago,
when I managed to make a clean break with the habit. I also smoked
marijuana in my mid-teens to early twenties, and hung with a lot of
mostly younger kids with problems while I was doing that, and ended up
not caring all that much for them; they weren't bad people because
they had problems, but I ended up realizing that their company was toxic.

the positive 'reform' of astrology.

I've bookmarked both of these as well as a page I've
got on my own web site about galactic points.

That is, you can now access all these sites through

I have checked in SolarFire 5 for Brady fixed star aspects to major
planets, the five most commonly used asteroids, the major angles, the
lunar Nodes, the Vertex and the East Point in the chart for this group
(conjunctions only, 1 00' orb), and found the following:

Mars conjunct Vega (Alpha Lyrae)
Saturn conjunct Castor (Alpha Geminorum)
Ceres conjunct Agena (Beta Centauri)
Pallas conjunct Diadem (Alpha Comae Berenices)
South Node conjunct Arcturus (Alpha Bootis) and Spica (Alpha Virginis)
East Point conjunct Denebola (Beta Leonis)

There two two online fixed stars resource which I find useful:-

This one is Diana Rosenberg's site.

This one is Ann Wright's as referred to in Arionys's post.

Diana's site used to be quite difficult to find, so do take a note of it.   I love Diana's work because she did/does a substantial amount of research herself in addition to her knowledge of western, Vedic and Chinese astrology/fixed stars, and her approach (to personal charts) is humanitarian rather than fatalistic.

Ann Wright's used to be very easy to find since it was always at the top of any search engine but when I looked today, I couldn't find it so easily, not even with an Aussie search engine (then I get the post !).  Anyway, I know the link because I printed something off previously.  So you may want to take a note of it too !

Best,

I'm afraid your group's chart has scored a hit with my Uranus
conjuncting it's South Node.

-a hidden peaceful cottage of secret knowledge.
-a work of secret knowedge.
-educational trailblazer
-secret, lonely, isolated, and hidden seem to come at me repeatedly,
but also PL=ZE/AP

-As well, a VERY intriguing Chiron.....

Star Stuff:
I have seen Vega on a Mercury before. But not
noticed it on a Mars.

Vega with Mars: Scientific interests, unpopular opinions, moral
courage, favorable for gain. (Robson).

Ugh, I just found a tiny bug in astrolog. I figured what star it was
anyways though. El Nath is connected to the checkbox for Alnilam.

El Nath Culminating, fortune and eminence sound ok.
Mintaka Culminating, that's Delta Orion.
Capella Culminating: Military, naval or ecclesiastical connections
and preferment, waste dissipation, envy and trouble. If at the same
time with Sun, Moon or Jupiter, ample fortune and great honor.
(Robson).

That's quite a few bright stars culminating...

Thank you Mark.

I'm sure this will probably be a good group. I'll look into the
conception in a bit... I've tried making a group too. They really
live.

I have checked in SolarFire 5 for Brady fixed star aspects to major
planets, the five most commonly used asteroids, the major angles, the
lunar Nodes, the Vertex and the East Point in the chart for this group
(conjunctions only, 1 00' orb), and found the following:

Mars conjunct Vega (Alpha Lyrae)
Saturn conjunct Castor (Alpha Geminorum)
Ceres conjunct Agena (Beta Centauri)
Pallas conjunct Diadem (Alpha Comae Berenices)
South Node conjunct Arcturus (Alpha Bootis) and Spica (Alpha Virginis)
East Point conjunct Denebola (Beta Leonis)

These are the rules for the group. I don't want to give this long and
detailed list of do's and don'ts, but some rules are necessary.

(1) If you're an astrological newbie, this is probably not an
appropriate group for you; we'll help each other out if we don't
understand something, but this list is for astrologers who already
have mastered the basics.

(2) Treat all members with respect; no personal attacks, no
flamefests, no name-calling, no libel, no stalking, no bigotry. I have
been through this stuff on other groups and *I will not tolerate it
here.* I have seen lists that have dried up, withered away and
vanished through too-tight control of the discussion, but I have also
seen list moderators go to the other extreme and tolerate nasties for
months and months before finally stepping in to stop their
misbehavior. I am going to try and strike a balance. I will not issue
an unlimited number of warnings to bad actors. If you persist in being
ugly, you will be banned, and don't ask me for another chance if you
are. If you came to mock or sneer, go somewhere else. As for other
language: I don't mind profanity unless other members mind it. Also,
try to stay away from political rivalry on the list. We want to get
along here.

(3) Posting spam to the list may get you banned, too.

(4) The occasional digression is fine, but try to keep it on the
stated topic of this list; if you go off-topic for too long, I may ask
you to get back on-topic.

(5) Please edit your messages to remove redundant content when you
reply instead of composing new messages so you don't include along
with your message every other message in the thread ad infinitum with
a lot of unnecessary text swimming in a mess of right-angle brackets.
This is a pet peeve of mine.

If we need to make any other rules as we go along, we will.

Live long and prosper.

This group was created on February 26, 2005, at 7:15 p.m. Central
Standard Time, in Carthage, Texas, USA.

I use the following texts, which may or may not be easily available.

*Brady's Book of Fixed Stars*, by Bernadette Brady

*The Fixed Stars and Constellations In Astrology*, by Vivian E. Robson

*The Power of Fixed Stars,* by Joseph E. Rigor

*Die Bedeutung der Fixsterne* (English title, *Fixed Stars and Their
Interpretation*) by Elsbeth Ebertin, Reinhold Ebertin, and Georg
Hoffmann (translated from German to English by Irmgard Banks)

*Astrophysical Directions*, by Michael and Margaret Erlewine

*The Black Hole Book*, by Alex Miller-Mignone.

We won't confine ourselves to these books; if there are any others
that are valuable, we can certainly use those.
