Where do ideas come from? How can you capture them when they arrive, and what do you do with them then? What does it feel like when an idea comes to you--for a painting, a book, a play, a quilt, a journal entry--and you know it's terrific? My job is interviewing artists and writing profiles about them and their art, and in the process I've become more fascinated than ever with all the aspects of living a creative life, getting ideas and making them concrete, arranging your daily life so you have time to make whatever-it-is that you make. This group is for creative souls--artists, writers, journalers, musicians--people who find inspiration everywhere and can't wait to jump out of bed in the morning and get to work, in whatever form that takes. It's for us to talk about that creative spark, the things that make our hearts race and our brains take off. What books made you race to your studio? We'd love to hear about them.
What it's not about: no swaps, round robins, advertisements. While you're welcome to tell us about your art you've just listed on ebay or your gallery opening or newly published story, we'll like hearing about it ever so much more if you've previously told us about yourself and the creative process that got you there. In other words, don't join just to advertise.
If the eyes of your friends and family glaze over when you start talking about how this dream you had led to this painting that you're doing on the wall of your living room, then this is the group for you. Welcome!
To join, you're going to have to tell me a little about yourself and why you want to be a member so I can weed out the spam and businesses looking for free ad space. You know.
