Dear friends,


This year is another year that the independent May Day Rally was organized
by Thai Labour Solidarity Committee, State Enterprises Labour
Confederation and Labour Coordinating Center join by over 12,000 workers
from many independent unions in Thailand. The independent rally was
colorful with banners, shouting slogan, workers music, to telling Thai
government what workers' in Thailand want.

The May Day slogan is “Workers United against Neo-liberal Globalization”
was repeatedly shouted throughout the rally.

While the official May Day which is sponsored by Ministry of Labour for
1.6 million baht to be divided among all the 1o Labour Congressed in
Thailand has much lower number of workers' participating in the rally. The
rally is colorful with paper hats and clothes which was sponsors by big
brands companies. Many workers were dancing while drinking whisky during
the rally was obviously seen as like the year before. It is more of the
festival than the workers’ rally.

However, when the two rallies were met, workers from both groups were
greeting to each others; hands shake, waving hands and smiles with
friendship was seen to confirm to each other that ‘ workers everywhere are
brotherhoods and sisterhoods’.
