If you would like to make a donation to the Safe Haven, please
remember to bring a gift to the December meeting.
The
Christmas season is once again upon us, and it offers a chance to do something
for those less fortunate than ourselves. The families at SafeHaven are
always in need. After speaking with the Volunteer Coordinator, however,
it seems that most people think of the children when donating items at
Christmas, and the moms are forgotten. This year, they ask that we provide
“Mom Gifts” if possible.
At
the December 17th meeting, we will be accepting donations of new,
unwrapped gifts suitable for the moms. Below is a list of suggested items
to bring to the meeting. As I am going out of town the following
Saturday, I will deliver the items before I leave town.

Will modern streetcars work in
Fort Worth? Should we expand commuter rail beyond the Trinity
Railway Express? Would a world-class rail transit system create a
new economic engine for North Texas?
Sign up today for this exciting conference about Fort Worth's
future. Join Mayor Mike Moncrief, keynote speaker Mayor Pat McCrory
from Charlotte, modern streetcar experts, and dozens of state and local
officials for this special community event. Tracks to the Future
promises to be a highly interactive and influential discussion about the
future of rail transit in the Metroplex. The conference will
highlight the important questions that we must confront head-on to ensure
mobility and sustainability for North Texas in the years to come.
How do we pay for it? Who is leading the effort? How do we
make it happen? What can I do to make a difference?
Tracks to the Future is presented by a broad coalition of
community organizations in partnership with TCU's Office of Extended
Education. If you have questions or need additional information,
please contact Fort Worth South, Inc. at 817-923-1343 or

The Greater Fort
Worth Section of TexITE Community Service event this year is a cookout for the Safe Haven Domestic Violence Shelter
on Wednesday, September 2, 2009.
Starting about 6 pm, we will grill hamburgers for the women and children at the
shelter that week. Their event coordinator estimates there could be
between 40 and 80 people present, so we need as many people to volunteer as
possible.
We are
also in need of an extra grill if anyone has one they are willing to volunteer.
Safe
Haven is a shelter for battered families. Due to the nature of the
organization everyone who volunteers will need to fill out the attached form
and return a signed PDF copy to me by
Monday, August 18th. They will provide us the address of
the shelter after they have run background checks on everyone. If there
is a chance you will be able to attend, please send me a signed form.
Looking
forward to seeing everyone at Safe Haven! Please call of email me if you
have any question.
