Thanks, I do appreciate your consideration. Should I also remove the 15KΩ resistor? Would you please let me know the characteristics of the “pot core”?

20 volts seems an unlikely rated output voltage for an alternator, is that the correct rating, or is it the actual output voltage you measure without a load?

You would need a simple rectifier between the alternator and the battery but you also need a regulator. The simplest way to regulate would be to find a vehicle

You could use the differential amplifier portion of this one: http://www.techlib.com/electronics/amxmit.htm#improved . Just feed the generator into the .01uF.
