Gents,

Just been getting a debrief from the Broon. What the hell is going on here? I
leave you guys for FIVE minutes and there's TWO slide offs and a stiff reprimand
from the Garda!

I wish I'd been there - sure the cops would have said "OK lads - you're having
fun, but let's cool it a little", but it would've been followed by, "-try to
ride more like the good-looking guy on that classic Kawasaki - he seems to have
complete mastery of his machine despite its inferior handling qualities".

Anyway - hopefully be joining you on the next trip. A chance for us all to brush
up on that "appalling riding style" - although, if we haven't got the hang of it
by now, there aren't TOO many years left to improve!

My sponsored swim (Bournemouth / Boscombe) approaches in a couple of weeks. I've
been trying a bit of sea swimming in preparation - but it seems even colder than
last year! Having spent a week camping in Ireland, I was hoping you might feel
some empathy for people suffering extreme cold in a good cause.

If so, please sponsor me for a few bob on this website. It's for the British
Heart Foundation and even the most miserly contributions will be much
appreciated!

Cheers,
Todd

After all the fun and excitement of Ireland I thought it might be time to get together for a curry.

Suggestion at present is Wed 27th Jul or Thu 28th Jul  ?

Who could make these dates.

Cheers
Broon

Broon,    Great idea but unfortunately I can’t make any dates in that week so count me out (holiday with Mrs W).

By the way,  all 4 bikes returned safely last night from my Pyrenees trip.    Was really a great formula (took the ferry to Bilbao and rented a flat in Jaca which is part way along the Pyrenees.   Great roads, light traffic, great mountains, cheap food & petrol ( around Euro 1.30 per litre) and we had good weather      ….but ferry does take 24 hours-ish and not that frequent so our trip was a Friday night to a Sunday night….  but still could be worth thinking about for a future PFB trip one day.)

Cheers, Chris.

These dates are clearly not working as Ant, Mark and Chris are all unavailable.

I will suggest some alternatives in due course to see if we can get a better fit.

Gents,

I write this bruised, weary, traumatised and perhaps slightly concussed
following today's "pain-balling" session. However, I can confirm that Dad's Army
gave good account of themselves against much younger and fitter opponents, using
tactics and animal cunning to outwit the "young guns".

Bill got off to a shaky start, suffering a touch of battle fatigue during a
particularly intense fire-fight. Happily we soon convinced him that pacifism and
unilateral disarmament would not necessarily prevent him getting a bruising in
this environment. In the next round, he went out, guns blazing and emptied a 200
shot hopper!

Col had a heroic moment - after crawling through the nettles, he stormed the
enemy camp from behind, giving them the "good news" at close range - only to be
shot in the back by one of his own men.

Anyway, thanks Broon for a memorable day out, the bruises will soon heal but the
flashbacks may take a little longer...

Cheers,
Pete

Pete,

The bruises are healing and a few muscles were hurting this morning but a small price to pay for our performance in the heat of battle.

Still, it's quad biking next time around.

Yeah - I reckon Broon may be mistaken in thinking that quad biking is a safer
option than paintball - just ask Ozzy Osbourne.

Actually, now the bruises have healed, I'm thinking that paintball may have been
the most fun I've had with my clothes on. The expensive part is the paintballs
they sell at £25.00/500; they're only £6.95/500 on ebay! Is there anything
stopping you from bringing a few of your own?

Hi guys,

As you may (or may not) know, Belcher is being wheeled into the operating room on Fri 16th Dec to have his leg broken and reset in a forward pointing direction. I'm sure you will all agree this is the direction to be pointing

Whilst we don't want to overplay this event (I understand it's a fairly straightforward proceedure with very low mortality rate but it hurts a lot) I thought it may be nice to gather the team for a "Wish you well nipper curry night" on Wed 14th Dec.

Appreciate this is short notice but wondered if we could muster at least 4 or 5 minimum attendees (one of which would hopefully be Belcher himself).

Anyway, let me know

So far Ant and myself are up for it.

Cheers
Broon

I would love to…

But, no hols left this year.

…..so, I can’t do mid-week events.

However, I’ll take this opportunity to wish Bill a speedy recovery,,,

With my suggestion that he stocks-up on Nurofen Plus...for his convalescence

Best regards,

Broon,

If he's after a broken leg - there are one or two Andover pubs I could
recommend...

Count me in - look forward to seeing you all again.
