And hello.  Today I was wandering around my backyard and found a
freshly dead Boa Constrictor.  Apparently someone's pet had gotten
loose.  This isn't exactly taxidermy, but sometimes when I find
things like frogs or toads- I let them dry out in the hot sun.  It's
almost like a form of mummification.  Just thought I would share that.

eating the squirrels? My exboyfriend has some friends visit him from the
hills of NC and they made squirrel stew. They left the heads righ on the
things.....most appealing floating around in a pot.

There are some desicants you can use that are made for drying things out
like silica gel. That's the little packets of stuff you find in new leather
jacket pockets and such.

I'm pretty new to this but I'm going to give it my best shot. Ummm red
squirrels are bigger then chipmunks and smaller then gray squirrels. I

WOW! I didn't realize that there was a taxidermy group on the web!!
Here is a (long) background of me:
Around the age of 13, the idea of taxidermy (to make a live rendition
of animal after it is dead) sucked me in its clutches, never to
release me (thank goodness.)  But unfortunetly, not many people where
I live know much about it, so for over 7yrs I've been teaching myself
through research in books (the library is a truly resourcful place),
talking to a taxidermist, tanning skins through trial and error (lots
of error, but i've learned losts :), and just these past couple of
years I've been able to get a hold of a few good specimens to do full
body mounts, nothing big, just like raccoon size and such.  Luckly
though, to the disgust of my entire family, they've been real
supportive in helping me out in my quest to learn all I can to one
day be a full time taxidermist(hopefully.) So, when anyone I know
sees a dead animal, I usually get a phone call or a "suprise bag"
when I come home on the weekends.  In my senior year of high school,
a colomnist wrote an article about me and took pictures of
my "portfolio".  That weekend I got a phone call from a neighbor who
lived down the hill from me, saying that someone had dumped an elk
hide (head and all) on their property (but because I didn't know if I
could legally take it, because it was a raw hide and there was a
suspecion that it could have been poached, I didn't take it. shucks!)
I'm in college right now, but my desire is to go to a taxidermy
school and learn all of the in-and-outs of the art.  I would love to
hear from someone already in the business and what its like, that
would be great!!  And if anyone has any suggestions on how to soften
an elk hide and what household item could be used to degreese a
raccoon skin that would be wonderful!!   Also, someone mentioned
earlier about taxiderming a mouse, i've got a full skin, what would
you use to make the body for it? (I've got clay and plaster of paris)

farmers were asked to surrender their farms to the government forre-distribution
and in fact to his political party members and my father though black was the
treasurer of the farmers association and a strong member of an opposition party
that did not support the president's idea.

He then ordered his party members and the police under his payroll to invade my
father's farm and burn down everything in the farm. They killed my father and
took away a lot of items from his farm.

After the death of my father, our local pastor and a close friend of my
father handed us over will documents with instructions from my father that we
should leave Zimbabwe in case anything were to happen to him. The will documents
has a certificate of deposit, confirming a cash deposit totalingTwelve million
five hundred thousand united state dollars. [12.5m] keptin custody for us in a
security company unknown to the company that the content is money hence it was
deposited as personal belongings. This money was deposited with this Private
Security Company for safety and security reasons, and was to be used for the
purchase of land, new machines and chemicals for establishment of new farms in
Botswana.

This violent and barbaric act by Mugabe has since
led to the death of my beloved mother and kid sister and other innocent
lives.

I was continually threatened to abandon my inheritance from my father afterhe
was murdered. I resisted for a while, but when the danger became unbearable,and
I survived two murder attempts, I fled Zimbabwe with the help of my father's
close friend Mr.John Casahans from Australia also a farmer who was leaving in
Zimbabwewith us but left with his family following this ugly development I have
tried to reach him but all to no avail.

I am currently staying in the Netherlands where I am seeking political
asylum.
In fact my decision to come here to seek asylum, is because the security company
from South Africa, has a branch here. I have contacted them to move the safe
deposit from their office in Johannesburg to here, which they have since done.

I need to transfer this money to an account and invest part of the money.
Since the law of Netherlands prohibits a refugee (asylum seeker) to open any
bank account or to be involved in any financial transaction, this is why I am
seeking a genuine and reliable partner, whose account this money can be
transferred, hence this proposal to you.

You have to understand that this decision taken by me is a very big and
brave one, and it entrusts my future in your hands, as a result of the safe
keeping of this money.

If you accept to assist me, all I want you to do for me, is to assist with
arrangements to claim the deposit from the security company from their office
