Starting with with 30 knot winds on 7/12 and a full reefed main and jib at 70%,
to the 20 knot winds on Wednesday with 8 people on board (reefed main and full
jib), what a week of fun in the sun this has been. (sailing vacations are great
are they not?) I've added a few photos to my new sailing fun photo album (no
projects). http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tanzer/photos/album/85074330/pic/list
The extra crew on board Wednesday helped balance the boat quite nicely. On a
port tack we heeled to 25 degrees and kept a steady 5 knot speed. On the
starboard tack we were able to pull about 5.5-5.8 knots and heeled about the
same. On the down wind run (starboard broad reach), I took the reefs out we
were flying at 6.5-6.8. Awesome day! A covered more than 25 nautical miles in
5 hours.
Get out there and fly.
