This group is dedicated to the appreciation and study of the famous Japanese author Tanizaki Junichiro and his works.

Tanizaki (1886-1965) was a prolific author of stories that, despite profound Western influence, promote a more indealized, traditional Japanese culture. Though his prose is often erotically charged and features characters obsessed with erotic desires, Tanizaki's literary standing is superb and he has grown to worldwide reknown with his acclaimed works often appearing internationally in translations and being adapted into films. Tanizaki stands beside Mishima, Soseki, and Kawabata as one of the giants of modern Japanese literature.
