Subject: Summer TangoCamp in Akl - Jan 15/17, 2010
tangoenz@...

Hola Tangueros/as

What a great start to the New Tango Year! 3-Days weekend of pure tango.

For the 2nd time around, Demian Garcia is back with a new dance partner
Alejandra Mantinan for the Summer TangoCamp. Both teachers are
internationally known and in highly demand in the tango world. This
partnership promises to be an exciting & dynamic fusion of artistic style &
technical excellence.

The event will be held in Auckland City, so just ignore the word ‘camp” as
we are not camping this year but we are hoping to do this as part of our
vision in the future (as previously planned). Going outdoors to the islands
and enjoy the summer holidays with tango. We anticipate this will happen
when the economy starts to improve.

*Demian Garcia* is a dancer, teacher & choreographer, with an impressive
career based upon his integral artistic studies, performance skills &
pedagogical approach to teaching Argentine Tango.

His impeccable teaching & performance skills stems from his intense focus &
respect of the essence of tango, whilst at the same time being open to
exploring new alternatives in the dance form.

Demian is a dancer in high demand, appearing in & choreographing for the
highest quality tango shows in Buenos Aires & around the world.
Hisextraordinary dancing & teaching has taken him to travel & teaching
in the
most prestigious international tango festivals

*Alejandra Mantińán* is highly in demand teacher & performer throughout the
world. She’s known to her speed in movements & elegance - Tango rapido -
highly energetic yet sensual. These are the qualities that best describe her
style which eventually catapulted her stature in the world of tango.

Alejandra was a national dance teacher from the age of 18, & has studied
classic, contemporary dance, tango & was the assistant of Antonio Todaro. She
is a choreographer and dancer since 1990, and being one of the principal
dancers alongside with great tango artists such as Roberto Herrera, Vanina
Bilous and Gustavo Russo in the world touring show *Tango Pasion* and *Tango
Argentino*, she has enjoyed huge successes with her unmistakable virtuosity
and technically mature style on stage.

Alejandra Mantińán is a multi-awarded tango artist, having won prestigious
awards such as best tango show for "Estalares del Mar" and "Precio del arte
Argentina" from the Academy of Arts in Buenos Aires.

Acclaimed artist, she is also a flawless Tango performer & teacher with over
20 years experience. Her intense research on the mechanics of the dance has
made her well known and appreciated all over the world & her teaching
qualities are loved by all of her students.

Alejandra is also one of the appointed judges for stage category at the
World Tango Championships in Argentina. So those, aspiring competitors can
gain an immense knowledge and technical movements through her classes and
private lessons.

The Practica will be from 3pm to 6pm, cost is $10.

Last Practica of the Year!! We are not running a practica in December.

Everyone is welcome to bring a plate, to have with our Tea and Coffee.

A Practica is space with music provided to practice dancing tango.
There are no teachers as such nor does it have a set format,
you can work on your own individual tango skills
at your pace (with a partner) and can talk with friends
and other dancers there, to get some informal help or advice on
anything that is not working out. Mistakes are allowed!

We don't monitor equal numbers of leaders and followers, so it might
be useful beforehand to organise a dance partner as leaders are
always in short supply. ALL leaders are welcome :)

Hi Tangueros,

We will be holding an End of year dinner and dance at one of our Tango
venues called Greers Restaurant and Bar.
This is a great venue and has a French Oak floor, especially designed for
Tango dancers!!!
The food is excellent and at very reasonable prices and the menu will be al
a carte.

The idea is that we will dine first till 9.30pm and then the tables will
part for dancing.(No dropping food on the floor eh).

Importante. Please note, we will not have exclusive use of the restaurant
and it is a busytime of the year so we will need to book early to ensure we
esablish our presence. If you are a likely candidate book now by emailing me
who is coming. I will pass your booking for dinner to Siobahn the Manager.
If for any reason later you cant make it or want to change your booking
please contact me and I will let Siobahn know.

Hi everyone,

One of our students is away and so we have a Private Lesson time available with

Private Lessons cost $60 for the hour. You can come either as a Leader only
(I'll be available to follow for you); a Follower only; or as a couple.

This is a good opportunity for some one-on-one time with Martyn, to sample some
of the new thinking / techniques we learnt during our recent trip to Buenos
Aires. We rarely have spare spots available, so be in quick! :-))

If you're interested, please let me know asap, by return email or text (027 482

this Sunday 11th October.
The Practica will be from 3pm to 6pm, cost is $10.
