TAMARAW VOLUNTEERS: THEN AND NOW
With the participation of the IAS Student leaders in the 1st. JOhn F. Kennedy Treeplanting activity in the Phils. This organization was formally conceptualize to give way to a student organization who shall cater for volunteerism among FEU students. Right after that incident, the founding chairman formally announced the official name of the organization, YOUNG VOLUNTEERS OF TODAY (YVOT).After which, the Young Volunteers of Today took part of a series of volunteer activities ranging from Habitat for Humanity; Museo Pambata’s Book Wrapping; Ecological Seminar projects; My Zu Clean-up Drive; and Sunday TV Mass Medical Mission in Binondo. With the persistence of the pioneer members to be officially recognized and the help of their adviser Prof. Gene Pamittan, the Young Volunteers of Today finally got accredited as a university-wide student organization. Dr. Adelaida Fronda, Dean of the Office for Student Affairs and Community Services, suggested TAMARAW VOLUNTEERS (or simply TAMVOL)as a new name, to truly embody the ideals of the FEU students being student leaders who have a heart for community service.
