The purpose of this group is to unite the different velalar groups in Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka and elsewhere into a single, broad and influential group which would be in a better position to set the appropriate agenda for Tamils. I believe Tamils are suffering at the moment because of the lack of leadership of vellala/velalar among Tamils and hence the lack of pride and purpose among the present tamil leadership.

I welcome you all to utilise this place to collect/provide/share info about the various velalar groupings and velalar individuals around the world, their history, culture, customs and needs. Ideally it shall be a meeting place for all tamils who call themselves as Vellala or Vellalar or Velalar. They might be keeping different surnames like Pillai, Mudaliar, Gounder, etc., I also encourage you to discuss who shall be included in this Common group (VELALAR). The ultimate agenda is to regain the pride of place for Velalars in Tamil society and use it to lead Tamil society to the greatness it is destined for.
