Like most people with TV/radio, I was dumbfounded by Palin's sudden resignation. At this point-in-time, she is the only one I’d trust with my vote. My first fear was one of the trumped up charges Vs her stuck; and then I heard the foul mouthed progressive democrat eggheads state she was no longer viable for prez since she was a quitter.
I admit, until I read Alex’s Interesting Items, I was still in a quandry. His take: they ran her out of office. That hadn’t entered my thinking up to then.
I tried to make sense out of it from her perspective. If she stayed as Gov of Alaska as Karl Rove suggested, she certainly would have been hit with more and more frivolous law suits she would have to defend. We know she ran up a $500K legal bill already, and it cost the state another $2M to fight off 15 false charges.
Somehow I got the impression from looking at the Palins, they don’t have that kind of money. I could imagine how they could lose their Homestead even tho they beat every legal attack. Therefor, if she plans to run for POTUS, it's reasonable to assume, she’s got to figure out a way to pay those legal bills which will certainly double or triple by the time her term is up. If she stayed on as Gov, she would be accused of being a deadbeat debtor.
Further, if she travelled to the lower 48 as the guv, Alaskans call that “outside”, her popularity would drop significantly .
Conclusion. Remaining as Gov was not compatible with getting elected as POTUS.
