More about Taize:
The meditative liturgy is prepared in the spirit of the prayers which are at the center of the life of the Brothers in Taize (France). Taize is an ecumenical monastic community founded in 1940 by Brother Roger. Today it is made up of more than 100 brothers from over 25 different countries. Their life is simple; they live from their work and welcome thousands of young adults who join in the prayer of the community three times each day
In order to pray together with young people who come from very different backgrounds, the brothers have created a simple prayer-style based on the liturgy of the hours. The repetitive songs were born out of this search for ways of praying together ; as we sing them they become a meditation on the Word of God.
In 1986, during his third visit to Taize, Pope John Paul II said, “ One passes through Taize as one passes close to a spring of water”
