Description
This group is for exchange of information regarding chemical-free biologically-filtered low-energy swimming pools. If fish and plants can't live in your desired swimming pool, then you've come to the wrong place.
These are sometimes called swimming ponds, people ponds, non-toxic swimming pools, green swimming pools, or "natural" swimming pools (although we're actually talking about manmade ones).
We are swimming pond designers, builders, users and dreamers. Let's tell each other what we've done, or are thinking of doing, problems we've had (or are still having) and solutions we've found, ... and how much fun they are.
Here is the introductory article "Turn your swimming pool into a swimming pond" from ReNew magazine.
Here are the detailed do-it-yourself instructions to build the:
Under-gravel filter and a drawing
Propeller pump
UV-C head
Power supply and control box (instructions not yet available)
Algae net

Re: Shoestring Budget
... Hi everyone -- I'm new here. I am building a natural pool at my home in Upstate NY. Sarah, I don't think you are too far off the mark in your estimate.

Shoestring Budget
Brendan, Thanks for your reply! So, an above ground pool would be something like we see on many properties where they are the flexible kind or not really
