The Susquehanna Water Gap Coalition, formed January 2007, has as its goal to protect the natural, scenic, and cultural resources of the Susquehanna Water Gap's ridges, valley lands, and river islands.
Coalition members will do this individually and collectively through education, publicity, meetng with decision makers, land-planning workshops, or the use of the legal system.
Special attention is given to the Kittatinny Ridge and its associated raptor flyway and the aquatic bird flyway along the river. Housing developments, negative impacts of industrial wind energy plants, and the sale of McCormick's Island are current interests. Cooperation is welcomed from groups with these values and purposes.
