Surrealism is not an 'art' or 'literary' movement based in the past, but a force for liberation, an intuitive science, and a subversive method combined into an 'open system' that continues from the movement's origins into the present. "The vessels communicate forever."

In the words of David Gascoyne, "Surrealism is not a style, nor an aesthetic, nor simply a way of writing or painting, but a universal activity of the mind unlimited to any one particular time or place. Widening and deepening the whole human experience, it is the germ of a new mentality that might revise the old scale of human values in every field to construct a form of society that would realize the full potential of every human being."

Participants are encouraged to post poetic matter and general commentary; to collaborate on group texts, games, and projects; to send photos, files and links. We may begin a series of online readings or coordinate real time chat sessions in the future.

Within the surrealist movement/surrealist community there are disagreements and differences of opinion. On this forum we ask that people keep these conflicts in perspective so as to spare everyone's time and patience.
