"Sustainable Resource Development" (SURED).

GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
The overall goal of the DAAD programme is the systematic cultivation of relations between German universities and their alumni in Developing Countries.

GOALS Of SURED INDIA:

Integrating Regional knowledge and International Experience in Sustainable Management of Water and Land Resources for water resources management practices and policies which will help to improve the supply and quality of freshwater resources.

o To bring impending water crises and associated problems of various disciplines at a common platform
o To discuss problems of different dimensions of different regions,
o To share the experiences of each others as possible solutions for other locations

RELEVANCE:

Towards the goal of sustainable development formulated at RIO in 1992, and the targets set down in the UN Millennium Declaration 2000. The International community pledged:
o To halve by 2025 the proportion of people who are unable to reach, or to afford, safe drinking water: and
o To stop the unsustainable exploitation of water resources, by developing water management strategies at the regional, national and local levels, which promote both equitable access and adequate supplies.
