This list has been created to facilitate examination of the path of the Darvish (dervish) through the study of both traditional and modern Sufi texts. We will also examine the practices and exercises of the different sufi orders insofar as may be done in a forum such as this.

Though this list has as its focus the central path of Sufism we will also, as seems appropriate, include materials that are peripheral to Sufism such as information from the body of "Fourth Way" work and the thought of Idries Shah.

The emphasis of this list is participation and each member of the list will be expected to introduce themselves in whatever way seems best to them. List members are also greatly encouraged to participate as much as possible in the discussions even if they think that they are "just beginners". It is expected that list members will treat each other with respect, flames, name calling and other forms of put down will not be tolerated.
