[Stuy96] Hey Stuy96, it's Spring 2008...

Hi all,

With Spring already rolling with the passing of all those Presidential Primaries, the annual Pi Day, and historic Baseball opening days (the last ones for both Yankee and Shea Stadiums), it was about time to say hello to you all.  Before we head into the exciting month of May (and Commencement season for those of you graduating possibly), just wanted to pass along some interesting news in and around the Stuyvesant community.

Most recently our Stuy96* class finally got a chance to donate about $1000 towards a new printer to Mr. Edward Wong '74 who runs the Program Office.  Nothing like the hey day of Mr. Kramer, Mr. Rodney, or even Ms. Brustein (she's now assistant principal @ Townsend Harris HS (http://www.thhs.qc.edu). Here's some more news that you can chew on, enjoy:

1) SHSAA and other ALUMNI related upcoming events:

As the weather gets warmer and the daylight gets longer, come and celebrate the change in seasons with your fellow alumni! Join your SHSAA for spring cocktails (beer drinkers welcome too!)

Where: Choice Kitchen and Cocktails
380 Third Avenue bet. 27th & 28th Street
When: Wednesday, April 30th from 6 to 9pm
http://www.shsaa.org/index.php?option=com_eventlist&func=details&did=81

Catch up with old friends, learn about upcoming SHSAA events, become an SHSAA member, get involved with future SHSAA planning and reminisce about your days at Stuy!

$4 draft beers
$5 specialty cocktails
$5 specialty martinis

Choice Kitchen and Cocktails also features an exciting
menu with affordable, delicious and unique appetizers!

No reservations are necessary.
Guests of alumni are welcome.

3) Stuyvesant junior writes sci-fi novel
"Truancy," Isamu Fukui's futuristic offering, has just hit the shelves and is already causing a stir in the sci-fi community. "It's about a student rebellion against the government of a city that rules through education," explains the young author from his Chelsea home. "It's about a fight for student empowerment, a clash of ideas, and the consequences of escalating violence."

Stuyvesant student Isamu Fukui '09 is in a class by himself
