Re: Alternative to Circumcision - Treatm ent for Phimosis   Message List

It's refreshing to see a write-up that suggests a value to intact and normal
appearance, but a ^^new alternative to circumcision for treating phimosis^^
would be to leave the poor kid alone. They make no case for why treatment is
called for. They show a photo of a tightly closed foreskin, but in the next
frame, the same skin is fully retracted with only a slight necking in at the
"phimotic band."

The authors at one point say the parents then have to decide whether to leave
the whole foreskin in place. Why is this a parent's decision? You're the
doctor who convinced them their pre-pubuscent boy NEEDED surgery! In what sick
universe does anyone but the owner decide what body parts to keep?

The bibliography is very useful, as other non-cricumcision studies are listed
and linked.
