Yes, some of Devonshire's instructions are not complete or incorrect.

To make KINIKINI PORO'ITI modify these steps in the author's instructions:

3. Turn the palms away; put the thumbs through the little finger loops from
below and touch the tips of the thumb and little fingers; rotate thumb and
little fingers away, down, toward you and up; remove thumbs from the figure;
transfer index loops to thumbs from above.

4. Turn the palms away; rotate index fingers over far little finger string and
lift up that string slightly; insert index fingers into thumb loops from above
and rotate index fingers away to the upright position. Release thumb loops.

6. Thumbs, under index loops, pick up and return with near little finger string.
Thumbs then pick up double near index strings.

This is kinda weird responding to my own reply, but if someone would just explain step six, that would be great because I think there might have been a typo....

Michael, It took me a good three hours of trial and error, but I did eventually get Te Kibena to work, using the instructions as written, so they are correct....

Yeah, I can do most of it, I'm just not sure where I'm supposed to put the strings after you thread the toe loops through the thumb loops....
