This group is dedicated as a forum to promote idea's and coordinate activities to stop mountaintop removal surface coal mining. Mountaintop Removal (MTR) is a plague on society and is obliterating entire mountain culture and communities in the central Appalachian region. This group will welcome anyone who is an opponent to this method of coal extraction. MTR is taking place in the mountains of West Virginia. Kentucky, southwestern Virginia and eastern Tennessee. Hundreds of mountaintops have been blown away and shoved into nearby streams, it is up to us to be the protectors of these mountains and save them before it is too late.
