The Consummation of Trinity Church:
The Rev. James D. Carder, rector of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Ithaca, came here by stage in 1833, meeting in homes and while here "United in Matrimony" Peter Brotherson and Miss Frances McReynolds. This was the first wedding celebrated in Elmira according to the rites and usages of the Episcopal Church. On June 12th of that year Rev. Carder made the trip again and the organizaation of a Parish, given the name of Trinity, was consummated.
