STAR WARPS
I was one of George Lucas’s targeted audience at the time star wars was released. I remember picking up a copy of look-in magazine with a picture in it of this guy called Luke Skywalker dressed in space suit and that was it. Wherever this guy was, I wanted to go there too! It was probably another year of hype before George finally took me to his galaxy and I have not been the same since. Up to that point I was into dinosaurs and Ray Harryhausen films, maybe that’s where my love of making home movies came from.
Around 1992 my friend and I attended a video making course at college. Everyone in the class had to come up with a new film every week. I can’t tell you enough how boring this got, having to sit through endless hours of very dodgy videos, I mean a gibbon with a cine camera taped to its hand could have done better than the stuff we had to endure! I said right that does it, I’m going to come up with something that will blow them away. It was at that point that I remembered my old Star Wars toys, and so my little Star Wars film was born. I must say the film was a massive success and everyone who saw it loved it! We used all my Palitoy figures and models from the first two films. Also, including my boxed Death Star!
I decided to re-master all my movies onto DVD. We have set about with my Star Wars film first as, (Yea you guessed it.) "The Special Edition". We renamed it Star Warps and changed the character’s names, and I think with better comic results too. It’s a mammoth task and we are about six months in. The film was originally meant as a bit of fun thing with a load of gags and it’s not meant to be taken seriously just for laughs but it’s grown considerably. You can view the trailer here.
