Friends:

Please pardon this blatant missive of maternal pride. As some of you know, for their Confirmation service project Andrew and Christopher created a charity called "Rosaries for Research." It was built on the idea that faith is about "acting as if everything depends on you and praying as if everything depends on God." To put this into practice, last spring the boys packaged hundreds of rosaries and distributed them at churches in the Washington area. They asked people to take a rosary and pray for a cure for cancer and to leave a donation if they could. The boys raised more than $1,400 which they donated to the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University Hospital and the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health in the memory of their dad.

But this was far too low-tech a solution for Christopher who spent the summer developing the "Rosaries for Research iPhone app" which is now available for download on iTunes. (And  you just know Bill is just busting a gut with pride over this one). It costs 99 cents to download this basic app. All proceeds from downloads will be donated to Lombardi and NIH. If you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone, I would encourage you to download it. The idea is to send money to researchers and prayers (from all denominations and faiths) up to heaven to bring about a cure for this awful disease. Please let friends and family know about this as well.

Thanks for indulging me by reading this and doing what you can.

Tracy
