Welcome to the Special Needs Families in FRANCE e-group!
This group has been formed to provide an online support network to English-speaking families living or transitting in France who have members with learning disabilities or other special needs.
This group offers peer-to-peer support and information in English. In particular, this group has been created to help English-speakers find answers on questions that include, but are not limited to:
- getting a diagnosis in France
- finding qualified state-paid and private medical and other qualified help
- obtaining educational resources
- finding schools that cater or are open to working with children with learning difficulties or handicaps
- obtaining state allowances
- exploring known and lesser known therapies
- finding other local support resources in English and in French in France & the EU
- sharing about the practical daily challenges of raising a child with special needs in France
Members are invited to join if they (1) live in France permanently or on an expat basis, (2) have children with special needs (3) can communicate in English (all nationalities are welcome). Members are encouraged to present themselves briefly to the group upon joining.
Special needs include, but are not limited to, dyslexia, apraxia, dyspraxia, autism, developmental delays, ADHD, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory integration dysfunction, etc.
This group is not affliated with any organisation and there are no group meetings, but group meetings may be planned if there is enough interest.
