SpecialEdFairfax is the discussion group of the FCCPTA Special Education Committee. SpecialEdFairfax is open to all PTA Special Education Representatives serving local member units in Fairfax County. Parents of any child who receives special education services in FCPS and who attend a school with a PTA are also welcome to join the committee and this discussion group. Together we constitute the Fairfax County Council of PTAs (FCCPTA) Special Education Committee.

On SpecialEdFairfax we conduct the business of the FCCPTA Special Education Committee, sharing ideas on how to best serve students and parents within our local school communities and discussing special education issues which affect services in FCPS. Members may use this group to send out information on workshops, legislative updates and other announcements of interest to the parents of students with disabilities. Members are welcome to also discuss topics of particular interest.

If you would like to join SpecialEdFairfax, please send a request to the moderator at specialedchair@fccpta.org. To be approved, you must live in Fairfax County, have a child who has or is suspected of having a disability and attend a school that is served by a member unit of the FCCPTA.

To be approved for participation in SpecialEdFairfax, please answer the following questions in your membership request:

1. Are you the parent of a student with a disability who attends FCPS?
2. What school(or schools)in FCPS does your student attend?
3. Does your school have a PTA?
