This group is for people who want to learn Spanish primarily through self-study. There are a number of people in the group who are proficient in Spanish and will be glad to help you, but this is not an instructor-led group. To be successful, you will have to be self-motivated to learn Spanish. We are using the following books:

- Main text book: Dicho y Hecho, 6th edition (ISBN 0471323535). Note carefully that this is the older edition of the textbook, so it should be available for minimal cost from various vendors. The "Files" section has some more information about where to get the book, but you should be able to find them for nominal cost on eBay or Amazon booksellers. Here is the book:

- Workbook: Dicho y Hecho accompanying workbook. There are actually two different books you can get: the Workbook per se or the Activities Manual (ISBN 0471323527) which contains the workbook plus some other information. The latter not only contains more, but seems to be easier to find and therefore less expensive.

Assignments are due every other week. Please consult the group Calendar (shown in the column at left) for assignments and online meeting times.

Before joining the group, I suggest that you decide why you want to learn this beautiful language. Is it to travel in Spanish-speaking countries? To read great literature in its original language? Or, like me, to minister to people in the Latino community? Whichever it is, you need to decide your purpose in learning; otherwise, you will fall by the wayside.
