On my build-up and detail of the Dragon Apollo CSM/LM kit, I drilled out and
carefully filed the windows for the CM and LM Ascent
stage. And backed them with clear blue plastic sheet. Although I didn't go full
tilt and address certain issues like the incorrect
Descent Stage size, I took on many of the issues with this kit and came up with
a reasonable finished display that is much more
accurate than what you get out of the box:

Actually the astronauts put up bluish shades - certainly when on the lunar surface when they were on EVA, Very noticeable on Apollo 11. En route to the Moon...

I drilled out the windows (& holes for RCS, etc.) on my 1/72 CM. No big deal, & after applying Crystal Clear I think it will look just fine. Mark ... windows...
