Coming to PBS on Feb. 9th and the 16th from 9PM to 11PM is the four part series Slavery And The Making Of America, produced by Dante James, and narrated by Morgan Freeman. Dante is an incredible filmmaker who has produced many award wining films, among them biographies on Marian Anderson and A. Philip Randolph. He worked with the late great filmmaker Henry Hampton at Blackside and was the executive producer of Hampton's last series This Far By Faith: African American Spiritual Journeys.
Slavery And The Making Of America tells the story of slavery from the point of view of the enslaved. The series recognizes the strength, humanity and dignity of the enslaved and redefines them as pro-active freedom fighters not passive victims.
It is essential to pass this email on to friends and family and encourage them to watch. If we can create a large audience for this important series PBS will be forced to produce and air more programs that address the African-American experience. There are also two web sites for the series they are www.pbs.org/slavery and http://www.slaveryinamerica.com/ Please pass this email on and be sure to tune in.

CALL: 212-461-5830 OR 646-519-5830 - PIN NUMBER - 5830#

To make the Firestarter Teleconference call a positive experience for all
involved, please do not plan other activities (i.e. dishwashing, house
cleaning, putting your children to bed or talking on your cell phone to
someone else, etc.) during the Firestarter call. It's important to find
the most quiet place in your home so that you and our other guests won't be
distracted by unnecessary background noise.
If you are going to use a speaker-phone
to listen to the call - please remember that everyone can hear everything
that's going on in the background in your home. We have "overheard" some
very
interesting conversations - ones that I'm sure weren't meant to be
shared with everyone.
Right before the call begins,
push *6 on your phone to mute out any background noise at your location.
The lines will be opened up at the end of the presentation so that you can
ask the speaker questions. Please give the speaker a chance to answer the
question before you offer an answer or an opinion. Thank you for your
consideration and your focus on courtesy.

The Regional Baha'i Council conveys the thrilling news that the Greater Columbia Area cluster in South Carolina has advanced to the "A" stage of growth. With this advancement, the Greater Columbia Area cluster is the first cluster in the state of South Carolina and joins eight other clusters in the region to have reached a state of readiness for an intensive program of growth.
According to the Universal House of Justice, "The friends who participate in these intensive programmes of growth should bear in mind that the purpose is to ensure that the Revelation of Baha'u'llah reaches the masses of humanity and enables them to achieve spiritual and material progress through the application of the Teachings.Vast numbers among the peoples of the world are ready, indeed yearn, for the bounties that Baha'u'llah alone can bestow upon them once they have committed to building the new society He has envisioned. In learning to systematize their large-scale teaching work, Baha'i communities are becoming better equipped to respond to this longing. They cannot withhold whatever effort, whatever sacrifice, may be called for." (The Universal House of Justice, letter dated January 9, 2001)
We are inspired to have witnessed Greater Columbia's rapid advancement from a C-level to the A-level of cluster growth. This noteworthy development was unquestionably the result of their "concentrated and sustained attention to the two essential movements" of the Five Year Plan, which refers to the steady flow of believers moving through the sequence of courses offered by the training institutes for the purpose of developing the human resources of the Cause, and the consequent movement of geographic clusters from one stage of growth to the next.
As we reflect on and celebrate the advancement of Greater Columbia cluster, let us recall the sacred mission entrusted to each of us by Baha'u'llah: to teach His Cause. "Humanity's current plight is too desperate for even a moment's hesitation in sharing the Bread of Life, which has come down from heaven in our time. Let there be no delay, then, in advancing the process that has every promise of success in ushering to the banquet table of the Lord of Hosts the souls of all that hunger after truth." -- 2001 Ridvan Message

PIONEER RESOURCE PERSON'S NETWORK EXPANDS AS WE ENTER THE FINAL YEAR
OF THE FIVE YEAR PLAN!
The friends across the country can now easily find information about
international service on-line at www.usbnc.org and from the newly
established Pioneer Resource Person 's Network. Members of the
network are appointed by Local Spiritual Assemblies and carry out
their duties under the guidance of the Office of International
Pioneering. Their primary function is to inspire the friends to
consider international service as pioneers, traveling teachers, or
youth year of service volunteers.
The PRP Network is a link between the Office of International
Pioneering and local Baha'i communities. Although many PRPs are
returned pioneers, this is not a requirement. This Network has
already significantly extended the work of the Office of
International Pioneering. These local volunteers share information
about international goals and consult with the friends about
international service at Feasts, cluster gatherings, and whenever the
subject of international service arises. Soon there will be local
pioneer resource persons in communities from coast to coast!
Does your community have a Pioneer Resource Person? If not, request
that your LSA appoint one. The requirements for service are that the
appointed PRP have the time and interest, and an email address, to
volunteer for this service.
The goal is to have a PRP in every cluster and/or LSA area by the end
of the Five Year Plan. Planning a business trip abroad? Retired?
Looking for service opportunities as a pioneer or traveling teacher?
Need information about a youth year of service? The local Pioneer
Resource Person can get you started on the steps leading to the path
of service.
LSA secretaries can notify the Office of International Pioneering of
PRP appointments by contacting Pat Alston, PRP Network Coordinator at
the Baha'i National Center, palston@..., 847-733-3507.

Dear friends, here i found a link to an article(under featured
articles)about bahai religion in this online encylopedia. I hope it
is interesting and of use.

Dear friends:
On the left hand side of the home page, you will see a blue column
going downwards, enclosing the words Home, Messages, Pending, Post,
Chat, and so forth. Click on the word Photos and you will be
surprised at who you see.
Love,
Thozi
When you hit the reply button, the same address appears, and the word "Re:" also appears on the subject line. This means we can reply to what the friends have written, and the reply will be sent to everyone on the list. Dear Monireh, you will notice that there is a long space before your writing appears. I do not know what caused it; maybe you could investigate it for us.
Much Baha'i love,

Well, hello to you all. I think this yahoo group is really neat. I

Dear friends:
WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!! Isn't this wonderful!! Great! There are
now seven (7) members of the South Cobb Baha'i Communty on this
webmail group website. You are soooo welcome!
One way to use the website and make it relevant to our lives is TO
USE IT!!
So, who will start? Why don't we all say something about ourselves
to start with. Now, how do you do this? Go to the home page, go to
Messages and under messages click on "Post". The page will come up
and you will be able to tell your story. Just Click "Send" when you
have finished and it will be sent to all of us who have signed up.
OKAY? Each of us can do this. We can all be in touch with each other
in this simple way. And we all need to hear each other's stories.
My name is Thozi Nomvete. I came to the US first in July, 2002, on a
Fulbright Scholarship which I utilized to teach Nursing students the
History of South Africa. This was at Auburn University Montgomery,
Alabama. That lasted until December 2002. By this time I had met
Patsy at the Tennessee Baha'i Institute. In February 2003 I went
back to South Africa.
Patsy arrived in South Africa in June 2003 and we were married that
same month at the Hotel Osner in East London, Eastern Cape. Patsy
and I had a wonderful time in South Africa. We both decided it was
time we went to the United States to live there. Patsy arrived back
in the US in July, 2004, and I arrived in December 2004. And That's
our story!!
Thozi Nomvete.
Hello my dear spiritual South Cobb family,
Am hoping to hear news of your invitations to friends, co-workers,
neighbors and extended family. Invitation anecdotes are the sweetest
treats our institutions can receive from us these days. In addition
to passing through the Sequence of courses, of course.
"Turn thy heart fully to the Holy Spirit, and invite others to do the
same; then shall ye witness wonderful results." (Abdu'l-Baha,
Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 160)
Please let your ideas about Devotional Gatherings include informal
teaching activities both before or after the prayers, Readings,
poetry, sacred music, etc. It has been mentioned that we should go
back to old fashioned firesides - But, didn't we have devotions in
our firesides? Isn't it appropriate to chat informally about
spiritual subjects before and after communal worship? The important
thing is to be teaching and inviting.
I am eager to co-sponsor devitions/firesides, and hope to co tutor a
book four in the near future.
My thughts and prayers are with you as you gather for this Feast of
Sovereignity.
Your loving Baha'i sister,
dee
