Calling all San Jose, CA area electronic, experimental, ambient, noise, sound art, field recording, drone, post-rock, tape music, electro acoustic, avant-garde, glitch, lo-fi, microsound, DYI, bedroom and knob fondling artists.

SouthBaySound is a group for those interested in listening to, creating, collaborating around and discussing events and topics of the aforementioned music styles. Musicians in and around the South Bay area are encouraged to join, interact and participate to help build this up and coming community.

Current Project:

SoundPool001 - A project with a simple idea. Create a pool of sounds of 10 second or less from members of the group. From these sounds each of the participating members will create a track or tracks using only these sounds as source material. Modify, manipulate, cut-up, tweak and combine these sounds in unique ways to create your track. Finished tracks will be posted for all to enjoy. Upload your file to pool001 in the FILES section on the left.

sound_pool002 - This one is just like the first one but with a little twist. Sounds must be unprocessed and must not come from a musical instrument of any kind. No obvious drums, guitars, flutes, etc. Once they're in your song you can do what eve you want. Sounds should be under 10 seconds and you should only use sounds submitted to the pool in your song. Songs can be as long as you'd like. Files can go here
