The South Asia Collaborative Research Network (CRN) brings together scholars and lawyers working on aspects of law and society in South Asia. The network operates under the auspices of the Law and Society Association. We welcome those working on social scientific and policy-oriented aspects of law as much as those with historical, philosophical and literary legal interests. The CRN provides a forum through which panels on South Asia may be organized for the annual meetings of the Law and Society Association (LSA). In cooperation with two other CRNs (British Colonial Legalities, Colonization and Law), we also hold a joint annual lunch at the LSA conference.

The next LSA Annual Meeting will take place in Boston, May 30-June 2, 2013. Here is the Call for Participation: http://www.lawandsociety.org/ The LSA deadline for panel submissions is Dec.4, 2012. Our CRN 22 internal deadline is Dec.1, 2012: please let Mitra Sharafi know by then if you plan to organize a CRN 22-sponsored panel (sharafi@wisc.edu).

We invite panels addressing South Asia-related themes to include "CRN 22" in their title, making the panel a CRN-sponsored one. Sponsorship allows those interested in South Asia to identify relevant panels more easily. Please e-mail Mitra Sharafi (sharafi@wisc.edu) for further information on CRN sponsorship.

The CRN is an unfunded body, and has no travel funds available to conference participants. However, conference speakers coming from outside of the US may want to contact LSA organizers to inquire as to funding opportunities for international participants.
