Hey everyone!
I know it has been a while since I posted. I haven't had time to paint new
stuff for sale, and I'm not able to open the books just yet, so have been
keeping mum. However, I did finally wrap up sales on NAN Minis - I was kind of
waiting for those time pays to finish before I started selling off any other
models.
I'm getting ready to post the grulla Tobiano "Rose Reiner" for sale on MHSP.
This is your "heads up" chance to buy before I post him there. He is a portrait
of a "real life" Grulla Tobiano. Unfortunately, in straight halter classes, he
often gets edged out by more fanciful, fantastical and CRAZY-wild pintos - which
he is not. However, he IS one of the most lifelike and realistic pintos I've
ever painted! He doesn't look like some vague fantasy "idea" of a horse, he
looks like the real thing, ready to run off the table. Which is why I think he
needs to head straight into a top-notch Performance person's show string. If
that sounds like it might be you, please check out his photos here:

I would let this handsome paint go for $750 plus shipping for check or money
order, payment in full, or for three time pays of $275 with check, money order,
or Paypal. Sorry, I'm unable to accept trades on him - but heck, if you have an
unpainted copy from Sarah that you've been sitting on, check out this paint job
and see if it catches your eye. You could probably sell your blank copy for a
mint and buy this guy for just a little more and he's finished and ready to go!
Another fabulous model finally offered for sale is my fabulous Desi II resin, in
overo, NAN CHAMP 2011, seen here:

And here:

I bought the body a few years ago for $500 and then added this amazing
hair-by-hair Overo pattern. If I was doing this paint job as a custom order, I
would now be charging about $450 with prep to do it for you.
However, I do understand that the blank resin price on this fellow (and on
unpainted resins in general) has gone down since, which is why I am offering him
at the amazing price of $750 plus postage for payment in full, via check or
money order only. (No Paypal, due to Paypal fees.) A great opportunity. Time
pays also accepted as three payments of $275 each. I think he's worth a lot
more, but hey, times are tough. LOL.
Now, I could never complain about how I did at NAN this last year, it was a
fabulous showing. (An understatement, ha ha.) However, there were just a couple
of models that did not get their "cookies" this year at NAN, and I still think
they might have what it takes to do it. You never know - it depends on the
judges, and the competition, and all that stuff, but still, these are two really
awesome models that showed great, but not great enough to take home a trophy.
This time.
One is "Corwin" a "Timoteo" model in Silver Dapple Tobiano. He has lacy edging,
a blue eye, and a cute amost Overo-ish face marking that is simply charming.
Not only did he re-qualify in both Halter and Workmanship yesterday at Tucson
Mountain Live, he took Division Champ in Pony resins.

I do have a few more copies of this resin, so if I sell him, I can paint others.
HOWEVER - I've been so busy lately, and he's already qualified. I'd have to
paint another copy AND get it qualified in both halter AND workmanship, wow.
I'm reluctant to let him fall into a "black hole" collection, at least, not
until I get him out there in the show ring a bit more. But I will *consider*
selling him at a reasonable price to someone with solid plans to head to NAN
next year.
He can also be seen with his rosette on my Facebook "Art" page, under the Tucson
Mtn. Live album:

Another one I'd like to see return to NAN is "Burgandy Lace" who is a
near-portrait of a live Overo Paint mare, and has fabulous references to back it
up. She was in the Top 10 this year. Note that the top 3 in this class were
Minis (Working Girls) painted by me. So I was kind of competing against myself
in this class, LOL. Had Paints been large enough to split into Minis and Trads,
who knows what the result would have been?
Her photos start here:

She is now re-qualified for NAN 2012 in both Halter and Workmanship. Burgandy
is the solid cast resin, and now that NAN will be in Kentucky, I'd have to ship
her out! So I'd love to keep her, and take her back to show next summer, but if
someone is willing to bring her back there for her second chace, drop a line and
we can talk.
I am happy to let both of the above models stay in my show string for this year,
and sell them after NAN 2012, but if you have solid plans to attend NAN 2012 and
either of these are models you'd like to add to your show string, please email
me to chat about it!
Well, that's it for now - busy with some commercial work. Most of the custom
orders are done, but a few stragglers remain. Only a few, however! Progress.
Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and I'll report back soon as I get fully
caught up. I still have buckets of Minis to paint and sell, personal items to
paint and try and qualify for NAN next year, and I know bunches of you are
sitting on unpainted resins desperately needing paint. But for now . . .
commercial work for all of the rest of this month, and definately into next
month. Things will sound quiet, but trust me, there is lots bubbling under the
surface.
Thanks,
Sommer
