This Solo Flight Yahoo group provides a forum for single adults who have attended the Episcopal Solo Flight Annual Conference at Kanuga Conference Center in the western North Carolina mountains near Asheville. If you have not attended the annual conference, you also are invited to participate. This is a great place to learn about Solo Flight and Episcopal single adult ministries as well as a great place to build community with other Episcopal single adults.
Solo Flight 2008 will focus on the theme "Flying Solo: Building Communities of Ones." Danial Ludwik, OHC, (pictured on this page) will serve as keynote speaker for the conference. Daniel is a monk in The Order of The Holy Cross at the Maria uMama weThemba Monastary near Grahamstown, South Africa. Daniel grew up in South West Africa in the Dutch Reformed Church but broke with the church at age 19; when he returned to the church, he became an Anglican and entered the monastic life in 2005.
Daniel says of his journey, "Those years away from the church have been extremely productive in terms of spiritual formation. Having lived through and participated in the so-called Border War of South Africa in Namibia, and having lived through the most recent civil war in the Republic of the Congo, had a profound impact on the way that I see the world and experience life. I am particularly blessed in the way that these and other experiences are factoring into my monastic journey."
The conference meets on Labor Day Weekend, Friday, September 5-Monday, September 8. To make a reservation or to inquire about this conference, please email Kay McLaughin at KCollierM@diolex.org for information.
