OSWALD CHAMBERS (1874–1917) Today's Verses - KJV James 5:13-15  Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. My Comments Are there times when Christians are afflicted, merry, or sick? Is this telling us what to do in each situation? I wonder, since prayer is involved twice, should we do more praying than anything else? Are we doing what these verses tell us? When we are afflicted do we pray? When we are merry, do we sing scripture? When we are sick do we call the elders to come pray over us? Christians face all the things sinners face. We face temptations, afflictions, happiness and sickness. The way we face these things shows what we really believe. When things go against us we should pray; not grumble and complain. When we are merry we should sing praises unto God. When we are sick call for the elders of the church and let them do just as the scripture says. I can't tell you how many times this has worked for me. It will for you as well. Meditate on it! Prayer Holy Father, give us child-like faith to do just as the scriptures say.
