The Solaris Ham Radio Group is an informal and loosely organized group of amateur radio operators interested in using the Solaris and OpenSolaris operating systems in ham radio.
The intention here is to create a loosely organized and friendly group of Solaris/OpenSolaris enthusiasts that are also ham radio operators. My wish is for this to be a place where hams can get/give advice and network in general. Both Solaris gurus and folks new to Solaris are welcome here. I firmly believe folks of all skill levels have something to offer and learn from each other.
Hopefully we can also attract some coding/porting talent and maybe even help get some ham radio packages created for Solaris/OpenSolaris. This probably one of the most pressing needs we currently face as hams wanting to use Solaris/OpenSolaris in our hobby.
The group will probably be at least lightly moderated at first if for no other reason than spam control. If you're worried about "inbox overload" feel free to choose the daily digest option or you can choose "web only" when signing up.
If all this sounds like a match for what you're looking for, feel free to sign up! When signing up please include your callsign, city, state/country, and maybe a brief note about yourself with your request. This will help me in verifying that you're a real ham and not a spammer trying to sign up. Thanks!
Thanks for your interest!
