Description
This is a discussion forum for Syriac Orthodox Christians of Malankara (Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church-under the Holy see of Patriarch of Antioch and all the East.)
According to tradition, Christianity in India was established by St. Thomas who arrived in Malankara (Kerala) from Edessa in A.D. 52. The close ties between the Church in Malankara and the Near East go back to at least the fourth century when a certain Joseph of Edessa travelled to India and met Christians there.
The church in Malankara is an integral part of the Syriac Orthodox Church with the Patriarch of Antioch [His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas] as its supreme head. The local head of the church in Malankara is the Catholicose of India [His Beatitude Baselios Thomas I], ordained by and accountable to the Patriarch of Antioch.
This Forum will entertain the discussion pertaining the faith, tradition and the day-to-day church matters. Moderator have full rights to edit, delete the message or even disapprove the message from the honorable members, if the message contain any thing against the faith, belief and traditions of Universal Syriac Orthodox Church.
However the moderators does not owe any responsibility for the articles written by the forum members.
The Forum is not representing the official stand of the church and by no means claims any official recognition of the church authorities, eventhough the Owner and Moderators owe allegiance to the hierrarchy of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. However, opinions and responses of the Church leadership are posted here.
Discussion is conducted in a spirit of love and humility, particularly when engaging Christians of non-Syric Orthodox Churches.
"Disputes merely about words must not be suffered to divide those who think alike"
- St. Athanasius, Letter to the people of Antioch
