Something must have totally inspired me this last week or so. I
wonder what? :)
But I felt so motivated when I got back that last night I wrote my
first two songs EVER. I don't consider myself a musician by any
stretch. I play cover songs and would have been perfectly happy doing
so. But something inside had to come out.
It was a weird experience since I didn't know what the hell I was
doing. It started with an electric guitar riff, then a chord
progression, and all the sudden I found myself adlibing melodies and
lyrics and then writing down additional lyrics. Then I found myself
hitting the record button on my PC and starting playing the chords
and singing and I realized I was recording a decent acoustic demo.
Then I wrote another song just goofing around with a groove. And I
must say... it was totally a de-virginizing experience in a good way.
That happy way.
Well, my next step is probably to write up some more and then try and
arrange and record some. I feel like I got pregnant and I'm doing all
the prenatal shit, waiting for the baby to arrive. Except the only
morning sickness I get is having to go to work. :)
Thanks has to go to Dr. Funk, M.O.T.O. (Paul & Denis), Jeff & Matt
Harrison, Paul Petromanaco, the two Boston busriders (Lacey and
Genius Girl whose name escapes me at 8AM), and the Sifl n Olly
Tribute CD. Of course Matt and Liam and the unmatchable,
irrepressable, undeniable Mrs. Olly. (Jeez... Already my liner notes
are a half page long!)
I've entered a much larger world. Thank you for showing me the
brochure to Ollyland. Short lines, bad food, great rides, all love.
