Hey guys,
I am going to be visiting from Oregon and plan to stay in Hemet for at least a week or so. I'll be splitting my time between Hemet and Escondido from 12-21 through to New Year's day. I'd love to tag along with anyone who is going to fly around Hemet or at Torrey or wherever. Let me know if you don't mind me tagging along.
Thanks,
Josh Sexton

path is not passable with the quads now becouse of the rain. We could use you

Wind looks good, lots of clouds. Rain will probably hold off until later

Today was good Mike, plenty of lift / cloud suck around, later in the afternoon
the clouds cleared out but there was still plenty of lift if your fingers didn't
freeze off first. Joe, Paul and I all had nice flights.

Yes, the wind prediction looks good both days. Probably no rain today (0-5%) but
20-40% tomorrow. The Hemet webcam paints a very gloomy and cold picture so wear
everything in your closet if you want to fly. I'll be there this afternoon
manning a shovel, but don't think I'll fly. Rod is there now with his Bobcat,
and Darrel is going to a birthday party at 2, so may be there late this
afternoon if at all. Hope he makes it over to start a "warming" fire, as we may
need it! Come to fly if you want, but the old trail is full of ruts from the
last rain.

As a result of our club formation meeting on November 22nd, Soboba Soaring, the
new club name, is in the process of forming a California nonprofit public
benefit corporation. There is much to be done. It will take some time for the
state of California to approve our application. We are also be forming a Chapter
under USHPA, and will be insuring our site through them. These processes must be
completed before we can open a checking account, PO box, etc. In the meantime we
need money to fund the club.
It was decided that we will offer initial membership in the club for $100, and
this group will be called the Founding Members. In the future, the Founding
Members may be granted special perks as the board sees fit, and may find their
names on a plaque. For $100, these members will have their dues paid through
April 30, 2011. Their membership cards, when issued, will bear the words
"Founding Member". After April 30, 2011, Founding Members' renewal rates will be
the same as regular membership, but the words "Founding Member" will always
appear on subsequent membership cards as long as the member remains a member of
the club in good standing, and a member of USHPA.
Regular membership will not be offered until the Corporation is establish. It
is estimated that Regular membership will be available by May 1, 2010 at a cost
of $50.00 per year. Founding Membership will be closed at that time.
Non members will be asked to donate a "Day Fee" of $10.00 to use the facilities.
Soboba Soaring is not responsible for transportation up the road or to the
launch at this time. I will address this issue soon.
Requirements to fly at Soboba have not changed at this time. Paraglider pilots
who have flown Soboba and have had a site briefing and check out can continue to
fly if the conditions are not beyond their skill level. New paraglider members
who have not flown Soboba will need a site briefing and checkout. Hang glider
pilots should check with Rod Mitchell.
In conclusion, starting now:
Founding Membership is now available until May 1, 2010. Membership is $100.
Regular membership is not available until May 1, 2010. Cost estimated at $50.00
Non members day fee - $10.
No changes to who can fly Soboba until incorporated, or until our club is
accepted into USHPA.
PS. Until we have a bank account, you can pay cash or make your checks out to
Darrel Wood. I will cash them and give the money to our treasurer. If you know
how to avoid the transfer fee I will accept Pay Pal (link on our web site). If
any fees occur on this end they will be billed back to you
Yes, another 1.5-2 hours airtime today! Look for a post from the man in the moon
shortly regarding club membership.

The conditions were epic today. The predictions were not
that great, but the wind was in the right direction. It turned out to be
fabulous. There was lift everywhere and you could fly as long as you liked.
Check out the flight.
I love the curve and shadow of the wing mirroring the moon and it's shadow

Nope! When we made the call there was lots of blue in the sky in the Hemet cam,
but it started raining shortly after 1:30. Joe left and took the rain with him,
as it soon turned blue again but no wind to soar. We ended up working on the
road going up the base of the new launch hill.

It was a great day of flying, Soboba was in fine form..
I posted a couple of pics over here:

I landed after 2hrs because my hands were a little cold, Paul was up for at
least 3, and it was great to see a hang glider in the air too.
