Hi, My name is Alistair Reid from Scotland I live in a small fishing
town on the edge of the North sea (Stonehaven Aberdeenshire) I am
registered Blind But I still have peripferal vision in my right Eye but
almost nil in me left. I was introduced to soapstone carving just over
a year ago at St Dunstans near Brighton England. St Dunstans is a
charity for Blind and Visually impaired Ex Service men and women . I
have also been trained by them as a Picture Framer and work from a
workshop in my garden. I believe that once shown the basic methods to
carve soapstone or alabaster or indeed any medium it opens up a new
world of appreciation of art.i also believe that the ability to carve
or sculpt is either in you or it is not. I never thought that I could
carve stone or frame a picture either but 14 months later I do both. I
look forward to learning all I can and hopefully get good enough to
exhibit one day.

Best regards

Ally Reid
