Jon, I assume everyone knows just how afraid if the water I am. I'm deathly afraid. So, bubbles, toy boats, and if course my rubber ducky are, the only things that can get me through my  monthly cleansing. Thanks for rubbing it in.

Hey you guys settle down, lots of angst with no wind and no snow. Since we all
seem to diverge from wind powered sports at times I wanted to make you guys
aware of two things to take advantage of, one is I have a Oahu Beach house for
rent on Sunset beach, look on VRBO #351457, surf brake is called Backyards,
sunset is 50 yards to left and Vland 100 yards to right, it all world class surf
of the north shore right out the door, When trade winds blow you can kite right
off the beach in front. There is also Garretts old stomping ground 10min drive
to the east, Hukelau and Dillingham 20min to the west, I have 4 kites and a
surfboard with straps there if you wanted to work out something.
The other thing is I often on Tuesday's fly to Alta to ski for the day via
private plane and return home that night about 7 or 8. Flight time 1h45m, Gas is
now $6/gal so I am looking for people to share gas expense to ski Alta powder
midweek no crowds.Total gas cost is usually $300. Usually leave at 630am and i
have an airport car in SLC so tranfsfer is quick. If you want to stay down there
longer I have a 1BR and loft condo I rent out at Solitude that is at Eagle
Springs West and is walk to the slope, can pack in 6 people but 4 is
comfortable. I hope this will help with the fevers that have been ailing the
group, Mark Parent 440-1542

What dose your house rent for ? also Ive been to Backyards and the beach is covered with brocken pieces of coral . How go you launch and land  there ? Also do every go to Snowbird or other spots , the reason i ask is Alta only allows skiing , no snowboarding .

I am an ongoing blood doner for the American Red Cross. Today is my day to get
drop a pint, yeah, get poked. Oh Boy! I have been told by the RC clinic that
there is a severe shortage of local blood, a 13 year low supply of all types of
blood. I want to help! So, I am reaching out to all my sailing friends
suggesting this could be a nice way of saying thank you to the community for
putting up with our groups activities on the public lands we use. Yeah! Good
PR for us too! But more importantly, we will be saving lives in our own back
yard !! Maybe one of our own! This blood is for local needs for the most part.
Please, give and encourage all your friends to do the same ASAP. We need Blood
today!!! I would also like the group (BSA) to consider Co sponsoring a blood
drive in the Treasure Valley with one or more of the medical practices in town
early this year...January sometime. I have the contacts, the space, staff and
supplies and will coordenate it all with maybe some volunteer help from the
sponsors. Hopefully, with help from all, we can get the word out and make a
real difference. No Steve and Jon, this is not going to become a "Blood
Sacrifice Ritual" to entice the Wind Spirit for the coming Sailing/Kiting
season! What do yall think?

I would also like the group (BSA) to consider Co sponsoring a blood drive in the Treasure Valley with one or more of the medical practices in town early this year...January sometime. I have the contacts, the space, staff and supplies and will coordenate it all with maybe some volunteer help from the sponsors. Hopefully, with help from all, we can get the word out and make a real difference. No Steve and Jon, this is not going to become a "Blood Sacrifice Ritual" to entice the Wind Spirit for the coming Sailing/Kiting season! What do yall think?

Good man Jack!!!   Blood update!  Selah Medical Center and Clinical Research has just agreed to be our first co sponsor of the January Blood Drive.  They are donating personnel and the use of their large waiting room at the Emerald Medical Plaza in Boise.  We are targeting Jan 21 tentatively.  That is a Saturday...likely all day.  If our sailing association is interested in officially co sponsoring we need to know asap.  No problem if not.  I have other interested groups.   Sponsorship will not mean any money from the sponsor,   just......its' blood...... and maybe some volunteers for the day.  Early stage of planning and we have yet to setup with the Red Cross.  More later.

I'll be in Utah next weekend, so I'll miss the sweet loads of powder that are coming to Idaho ;-)

Has anyone tried the Park City area? I'd like to head down to Strawberry, but won't have time to make the drive. I can't find any  information online about specific places to go around Park City, just some YouTube video of a guy kiting in a field in that area.

Thanks,
Josh

I have been out on Cascade and Warm lakes.  Cascade has been good for me as a beginner, wide open area with lighter winds.  I would not call the winds reliable.  Warm lake has stronger winds.  I have only been to Warm lake four times (each time it was windy), the locals that live there say it blows every afternoon.  The North Shore lodge is a good place for a beer when you are done.  I just talked to a friend in Cascade.  He said  Lake Cascade is completely frozen, but they only got 1" of snow last night.  A few more inches of snow and I will be making a run up there.
