JUDGE KILLS B.I.G.'S 'READY TO DIE'
A federal judge has iced future sales of late rap legend The
Notorious B.I.G.'s multiplatinum debut 1994 rap album "Ready to
Die," because the title track used part of an Ohio Players song
without permission.
Executive producer Sean "Diddy" Combs and his Bad Boy Entertainment
were found guilty in U.S. District Court of Middle Tennessee on
Friday of illegally using part of the '70s band's song "Singing In
The Morning."
A jury awarded $4.2 million in damages to two music companies that
own the rights to the Ohio Players' recordings.
Now a sales ban by Judge Todd Campbell will prevent the album and
song from being sold in any way - from stores to Internet downloads
and radio play.
