Description

The purpose of this group is to provide advocacy and support for victims of SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) suits, which are illegal lawsuits intended to chill free speech. First Amendment and free-speech issues are also welcome.

I started this group because I am a SLAPP survivor (for my story, see message 1). Other SLAPP victims are greatly encouraged to share their experience here. Lawyers, civil libertarians and the interested public are also invited.

We can't help you if we don't know your situation, so all new members must provide background on their case, including the name of the case (such as "Atlanta Humane Society v. Mills"), the court it is in, and some information about the SLAPP law in your state and your legal strategy, before being allowed to join. These will be posted to the group.

Please visit the Links section for further information. If you have a link suggestion, please e-mail it to me.
