Ah, 1 November -- date marked in red in my diary -- the big top goes
up in that Bugis field. Inquiring (fevered) minds demand a report
from the roustabouts lucky enough to be involved!

And whoo! Boss just approved leave so I'm hoping to be back in time
to help tear-down -- exactly when will this be, Meiling?

Also, the circus website says last date of performance is 2 Jan, but
the Sistic site says 1 Janusary. Anybody know the last day for
certain? Or do they list different dates for "the public" and "those
in the know", because the very last performance is, traditionally,
full of pranks?

Long live the Circus!

ah..... dear yeeling..

being on the fields as the setup occurred from 9am till 7pm.. it was CRAZY! EXCITING! DUSTY! AND HELLUVA FUN!

hahah... i must say, it was a full circle since TEARING down the Taipan circus tent in 2000! (yes! it's been FIVE YEARS!)

from sawdusting the grounds, to watching the four main support structures rise from the ground (YES! there are less poles and complexities within the tent, and that means, more visibility of the main ring from all seats!) ... the experience--- MAGICAL!

then it was "sewing" the pieces of PVC together that makes up the tent. Imagine GROWN men threading thick cord through ready holes on the tentage that holds it to the frame of the tent... (to the chorus of "PULL! PULL! PULL! I PULL PULL!, I VERY GOOD PULLER!" in swiss-german french accent...) and the tent is BIGGER than the last one!

AND THEN many many poles were used to raise the rim of the tent....... and then.... drumroll...... the tent was ALIVE! i meant RAISED~! phew......

when you see the bare, shaded ground beneath the freshly raised Circus Tent, smeared with your sweat and dust... PRICELESS!

hahaha!! enough long stories... it's really an experience that needs to bE experienced! so! those who missed it, get ready for circus TEARDOWN next year! ;)

Here's the extra bits:

1) Eddy Carello is Still a charmer and a pain-in-e-ass rolled into one. HAHAHA! a barrel of laughs!

2) There was Bruno senior, Father of Bruno junior, who has the classic curled-at-both-ends moustache who measures the HUMIDITY of Singapore by how much his moustache dROOPS!

3) There was a RAINBOW that appeared over the site during the late morning! wohoo! lucky lucky!

4) Marco still looks like a skinnier version of MR bean.

5) Andre Broger will be coming to town on saturday! WITH HIS BABY!

5) YES! the last show's on 2 JAN 2005 (as stated on the signboards put up at the site!) yupyup! to confirm what yeeling typed, the closing show in 2000 had loads of added pranks! i'm looking forward to there being more this time round too! so! i recommend catching the OPENING show, a Middle show, the CLOSING show...... and ALL ELSE IN BETWEEN!

so in closing,

SOME SPECIAL GUESTS MAY BE TURNING UP AT JUGGLING THIS FRIDAY... *fingers crossed!*

Dear jugglers

Here's an update from Jason Garfield. Absolutely fabulous!

ta,
Chi Minh

===========================

Hey everyone,

OK, I'm very excited. I don't know where to start. Well
first off, our line up of competitors is truly amazing.
We're going to have a much tougher competition this year.
It also seems that we're going tohave some great juggling
in the beginner and intermediate competitions as well. I've
seen what some of the competitors are capable of this year
and I can say, without a doubt, that there will be juggling
at this year's WJF competitions that raises the bar by many
levels. Juggling skill is truly evolving at a rapid pace
since last years convention. Now with a venue that is
specifically
dedicated towards the advancement of technical juggling,
that's what jugglers are pushing for. And from what I've
seen, they've been pushing harder than ever before. Even
those who don't plan on competing this year have pushed
juggling to a new level since the last WJF convention. The
shows for ESPN are going to have a completely new feel to
them and I believe they will continue to get better and
better. What's most encouraging is the response I've
received from the local demonstrations and workshops I'm
leading here in Las Vegas. From schools to Boys and Girl's
clubs to the community centers, I expect to have at least
500-1000 new jugglers created before the convention that
will be in attendance. On top of that, a whole new circuit
of juggling competitions that will debut at the convention.
I'll let you all know more about this in the following
month, but it's pretty exciting and will eventually lead to
the creation of thousands of new jugglers that will stay
jugglers longer than just the one day they see me.

Of course we all know that the convention package price is
going up again in November. If you plan on attending, the
current rate is the best rate you're going to get. But hey,
just to be nice, I'm going to give you all a two week
extension. That's right, the convention rates won't go up
until November 14th, 2005. So start making arrangements
to come see the best week of technical juggling on the
planet!

We're going to have a few different vendors this year
selling
juggling equipment, so be sure to save a little extra to
try out some new props. Our video banquet is filling up
nicely as well. This is going to be the final event of the
convention, and it seems almost everyone will be there.
Don't be left out. Purchase your banquet ticket now and
join us for the final event of the convention.

So that's all for now. Things are coming together very well
and I think you're all going to be impressed with the week
I have planned for us all. Hope to see you all there!

Event Coordinator

Hello jugglers

The next Batch Order for props is going out in the next few days.   Please let me know if  you wish to order any props.  The currency exchange rate is favourable.... 1 Sterling Pound = S$3.00 (approximately) and it's lower than what we've experienced this year 2005.  In fact, I'm placing orders for myself too.  Please visit  http://www.geocities.com/jimmyjuggler/equipment.html for details.

Exams around the corner (for the Uni students). Too bad no juggling module.

Anyway, I think many of ya would have had come across this website:

Basically it's a Local version of Guiness Records. There are some unicycling
records, but seems like there's none for juggling? How abt breaking a
few(read:double digit figure), maybe for next year's WJD. Plenty of records
we could have set already...

Wow! what a find!

3 cheers to the unicyclists!

yes and i second the call for the jugglers to set some records!

let's aim to break the record for

"15. Human Beings - Food Feats
Most Number Of Smarties Eaten In Three Minutes Using Chop Sticks"

at the next WJD!

But since practising for that is not good for the diet, let's aim for "Most
Number of Smarties Juggling 3 balls for 3 Minutes".

I bet they'll put us jugglers under "Human Beings - Odd Talents" alongside the
"Longest Yamseng".

Let's do a "Most Number of Smarties Juggling 3 balls for 3 Minutes while
shouting Yamseng!"

the possibilities are infinite.....

Cheers,
Yvonne

Hi Friends,

This mail may not be related to our group but i feel that it is vey
useful for all Singapore members.

A month ago, i came across a website whereby they list all type of
properties for sale (including HDB and Private) in Singapore. It is
so easy to search and very convenient to choose a particular
property for buying. I have not seen so many listings in any
singapore property site. Instead of buying Straits Times at $0.80, i
used this site to search for properties as it is updated everyday
with 90% of Straits Times Classified Ads are there!

The agent is very polite and helpful. I have used for my property
dealing and also recommened to few of my friends. Even though there
is rental listing in his site, but he only concentrate on Buying &
selling.

Just check the below url for yourself!
http://www.shaproperty.com/listing.php

I hope, this mail is useful for you all!

Thx

Hi James,
Thanks for the tip and your good intentions.
But can I suggest keeping non-juggling related topics to a minimum?
Not everyone in the list are looking for property. And sooner or later,
the site you mentioned can be searched out in google too for house
buyers. :)

Hi Wee Lee,

I am Christina, working in a student care. I saw your contact in the internet when i was browsing through the juggling section. I learnt to juggle 3 balls and so far have not advanced further even though i read a book on juggling.

I would love to learn to juggle with more than 3 balls. However, I have limited time to learn in a group. I am wondering if anyone in your group who is staying around Hougang and is willing to show me how to do it. I am quite an independent learner. All I need is someone to show me and I will practice on my own till I reach the next challenge. I have been looking around to find a juggler to teach me until i saw your webpage.

I would appreciate if you could respond to this email.

Thank you

Regards,
Christina Kho

We usually stay to 11.40 max because if I run to the mrt at 11.40, I can
catch the last train. I haven't really tried missing the last train.
I don't know about buses though.

Otherwise you can stay there forever. That place doesnt close (I think).
They switch off the elevators at 12 midnight but I don't think they can ever
switch off the stairs unless they have gates or something.
