Hello all

Would you like NEW PROPS in time for World Juggling Day, 19 June 2004?  Place your order by mid May so that you have spanking new props before or on that magical date!

The Beard website is under construction, so you may view jpeg files of the catalogue at both the SingaporeJugglers and NUS Jugglers yahoogroups.  Or let me know if you would like me to email the jpeg files to you.

Thank you!

Dear Hui Fang,

It was my pleasure speaking with you this afternoon; its always welcoming
to know of such enthusiasm & support from individuals like yourself.

As mentioned and on behalf the Carnival Organising Committee, I would like
to invite you and your friends for a busking appearance at our 8th “Metta
Charity Walk cum Family Carnival”; an annual fundraising effort to help the
intellectually disabled, elderly and less fortunate in Singapore. This
year's event will be held in conjunction with the Singapore Dragon Boat
Festival, as such we anticipate an unprecedented crowd of 30,000 each day!
To celebrate this very special partnership and gathering of individuals; we
are including a buskers’ fiesta to the Carnival; we believe the performers
will bring much colour and joy to all!

We will be elated if you & your friends can join us in making this
fundraising effort a success. We are looking towards the likes of jugglers,
mingling clowns, human statues, mimes, unicyclists, ethnic drummers, fire
eaters and sword swollowers. It would be an honour if you would grace our
carnival on the 19th & 20th June, at the Marina Promenade. We have every
confidence that your busking performance(s) will do much to woo the hearts
of our visitors. Your presence will help create a most memorable and
heart-warming experience for all.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at 6240 6362 (DID) / 9061 6903 (HP)
should you require further details. I have attached a copy of the Carnival
poster for your kind perusal. I look forward to your generous support and
would love to drop by at Clarke Quay during your performance. Meanwhile,
have a very pleasant week ahead!

Warmest Regards,
Felicia Foo

Will be at Esplanade underground today... anybody else gonna
be there?

As a matter of curiosity: last week -- Saturday, I think it was --
some guy did a Matrix-style "living statue" act near the Lido
cinema escalator. Was that someone from here? :)

if people are interested in juggling on Tuesday, why
not go down in the evening to Singapore Poly where the
unicyclists play hockey? There's lots of space around
the street soccer courts to juggle.
this way, some of the unicyclists who don't juggle can
try out some juggling for a change, and vice versa.
(there's usually several spare unicycles).
note that there are some rather hyperactive kids who
turn up there, so be warned.

i don't usually go down on Tuesdays, but if it's going
to be a combined uni-juggling evening, I think I'm
keen!

Hi fellow jugglers!

Hope to get some help from you guys and gals in thinking of a tagline for
WJD T-shirt. There are some online juggling quotes like
- "life is a struggle, if you can't juggle"
- "if Newton was a juggler, he would have caught the apple"
- "unleash the child in me"
but I am sure you all can come up with even better ones right? =p

Hope to gather more suggestions soon. Thanks!

Cheers,
Boon Teck

My favourite is this one came from a bumper sticker I bought from the old
Juggling Capitol
"I'd rather be juggling." -- will be nice if printed big abd bold at the back of
the t-shirt. :)

After searching the net, here's one more: "Jugglers are good to the last drop"

Boon Teck: I guess you got your taglines here:

i can't think of new ones yet, but i really like these 2 from the linked site:

"To juggle is to find the most difficult way to do the unnecessary."

and

"It must be easier to do 14 cause there's more chance of catching them."
~~ Random and spectacularly dim member of public.

:o)
by the way, in response to an earlier post by koah fong on the 2 ball terrorist
video, there's a better one here by luke barrage "Who said two balls isn't
juggling":

http://www.minimansell.com/luke/2ballroutine.mpg

enjoy. :o)

cheers,
Yvonne

Well, I've always liked "Down with Gravity!"

The other suggestions seem a tad too wordy for me, but if I had
to choose one o' them, I'd go for the one about jugglers being
good to the last drop. :)

Hi hi,

to all who have indicated your willingness to help, can you to reaffirm your
commitment and availability as the event is forthcoming.

It will be held on the day stated in the subject and tentatively, SA_Deaf
needs us to help fill an item from 4-4:30pm. It'll be on stage at the main
event tentage outside the SDC.

Tentaive because it depends on how many of us can turn up to perform. My
friend who is organising the event has limited experience in coordinating a
juggling show, so i suggested to her that each of the juggler do a short
routine on stage. And in case you're wondering, yes, music will be
available.

So how now brown cows? Do reply with urgency if you'll like to volunteer
your 'services' because the event is soon. Thanks in advance!

cheers
Ben

Wah, why closed so fast? Can extend another week to give
stragglers a chance to vote?

"I'd rather be juggling" won't make sense if I wear it while
juggling, which is when I'll probably wear the t-shirt. ;)

Oh wait, it's OK -- I'd rather be "juggling", as opposed to
"dropping".

yo jugglers,

i think boon teck needs to settle the issue fast so that he has enough time for the t-shirts to be printed...

WJD is coming soon! yeah! i'm especially excited about the 5 ball, 3-in-1-hand and 4 clubs competitions..... is John, our very own Singapore wonderkid, gonna sweep both? he's probably the favourite in all the contests. or could minjiang, the most improved juggler in recent times, be able to steal at least one of them from him? let's not forget Shenghau, the ball specialist, who might be able to excel in the ball contests. but will Koah Fong, the original superstar in our juggling scene, going to provide an upset? is Yvonne, the best female juggler within a 30km radius (ie. best in singapore) going to gatecrash the podium party?

the winner of these competitions will also set Singapore juggling records for the respective categories (except for 4 clubs which must beat Jeremy's record of 233 catches).

cheers,
willie

Yee Ling: that will give you more excuse to wear the t-shirt during non-juggling
periods. eg. when in office. :)

Dear Willie and all,

This weekend I'll be sending to everyone the final WJD 2004 Competition programme and line-up.  Watch out for it!

Participants who have pre-signed up with me....send me any photos of yourself doing juggling and any write-up you have about yourself.  Do this quickly (by Wednesday).  Why?  Because we're drumming up publicity and you all are the stars of the show!

catch (pardon the pun) you later,

coming soon to the Arts fest (Kidsfest)...

Lazer Vaudeville (USA)
Black light and lazer wizardry

Lazer Vaudeville combines high-tech laser magic with
the traditional arts of vaudeville to create an
original theatrical production. Complete with
superlative juggling, black light illusion,
acrobatics, zany comedy, and audience participation,
Lazer Vaudeville offers clean, classy fun for the
entire family. A cast of fantastical characters leads
the audience on a journey through the imagination as a
wizard performs magical illusions with laser beams, a
neon cowboy kicks up a luminescent rope-spinning
display, and an audience member escapes from a
straitjacket. The master of ceremonies is a seven-foot
tall, fluorescent, fire-breathing dragon named
Alfonzo.

Lazer Vaudeville, which hails from the United States,
will have those between the ages of 4 and 14 years
sitting on the edge of their seats as they are
constantly drawn into the show’s incredible assortment
of circus and vaudevillian acts with a modern twist.

Hey Willie thanks. Yah you are right. Not only that,
I need to have the T-shirt design fast also because
Knik needs it for some publicity purpose also.
Everyone, sorry about that. Btw, I think it still
makes a bit of sense when you are juggling and wearing
the T-shirt cos that is why you are juggling and not
doing other things =p

Willie, great commentary! I think you are cut out to
be an emcee too! =)

Dear Jugglers

There are 10 tickets to "Redefine: The Magic of Jeremy Pei" to be won at the WJD 2004 juggling competitions.  If you've never had the opportunity to see Jeremy's magic (either an impromptu show during juggling practice at the Youth Park or any of his stage performances) then let me be the one to tell you that you haven't lived yet.

Catch his show on the 22 June 2004, because on the 24 June 2004 he is going to start serving his National Service for the next 2.5 years!
