Mayor's RDA Budget Message Workshop 

On Nov. 16, Mayor Chuck Reed will be hosting a workshop to discuss the Mayor's Redevelopment Agency Budget Message. The State of California has raided Redevelopment funds from cities across the state to balance its budget -- $75 million from San Jose alone.  
 
Under San Jose 's budget process, the Redevelopment Agency staff releases a draft budget.  The Mayor's Budget Message is the opportunity for the City Council to make changes to the Redevelopment Agency Budget. 
 
Because of the serious challenges San Jose faces this year, Mayor Reed is holding this Redevelopment Agency Budget Workshop to hear from residents, businesses, nonprofits, and other stakeholders about ways to address this crisis. This is your opportunity to share your ideas and feedback with Mayor Reed as he is working on his budget message. Please join us on:

Third largest city in California and the tenth largest in the nation, San José has a national reputation for environmental leadership and innovation, awardwinning recycling, water conservation, and wastewater treatment programs. The Environmental Services Department (ESD) integrates these programs and other environmental protection services.

ESD helps San José to respond quickly to new regulations and initiatives, and to retool and improve customer services such as garbage and recycling collection, wastewater treatment, and the sale of potable and recycled water. With over 400 employees and a substantial annual budget, ESD is one of the City's largest and most visible departments.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION & OUTCOMES
Support the Go Green Schools Program with planning efforts for the Green Schools Conference. The San José Green Vision features a landmark plan to create a green future for San José. Schools and school districts will play a vital role in achieving this vision. This conference will help schools learn how to protect natural resources and foster environmental stewards while saving money.

Responsibilities include:
&#149; General program support
&#149; Assist with conference planning
&#149; Coordinating speakers, registration, sponsors, vendors, other logistics
&#149; Use Salesforce to assist with marketing and tracking event attendees

DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services
DIVISION: Integrated Waste Management
TERM OF ASSIGNMENT: 4-6 months with option to extend
HOURS PER WEEK: up to 20hrs per week
COMPENSATION: Student Intern $10.73hr; Graduate Student Intern $14.38/hr

We just saw a lost yellow lab (male) with blue collar. He ran towards us on Trowbridge. We tried to follow him - the last we saw him was on Country Club circle running towards the new basketball courts. This is not our dog - we were trying to catch him - he is very skitterish - and will not come to people -
